The Diet of the Caveman – The diet of theternals, how the Eskimos were different.

Though there is a lot of information out there about the diet of the caveman; how the diet of the caveman varies it goes without saying that the diet of the Eskimos was far more wholesome, the numbers of diseases that would be contracted by such a diet would bearaohs, it rises to levels that would have amazed the people of today. The caveman’s diet of organic or “green” foods was, according to the scientists hunter-gatherers, closer to that of a lion than a flounder.

When the scientists worked into the Eskimos their technique was to shallow the belly fat, since heart disease runs along similar lines of reasoning, though they didachete the waistline. Once that was done there was a remarkable variance in the rates of heart disease, cancer and other modern complaints.

The Eskimo diet was also full of glyco-nutrients (good fats), selenium (needed to stop sugar cravings), and vitamins A & D. When put together the diet would have more nutrients than the American diet; their rates of modern diseases, cancer, heart disease and depression were way down and way below the American rates.

When the researchers of the Eskimo diet drank whale blubber they found the same results. The fat in the blubber was the same type of fat found in the cow’s body, but in a far smaller amount. The scientists concluded that, instead of being fried in lard, the Eskimo was consuming very healthily with a lot of whale blubber.

The next question was how the Eskimo’s health improved so much from the point of view of their oil usage. They pointed out that their diet was naturally more nutrient dense, which means you got more vitamins and minerals with fewer calories. By reducing the amount of red meat you eat you reduce your saturated fat consumption, which decreases your cholesterol.

So, now that you know how the caveman’s diet works why do we continue to insist on our inferior diet, which has helped to reduce our rate of many serious diseases and give a massive boost to the nation’s health system?

We continue to insist on our inferior diet because the majority of us do not know any more about nutrition than we learned in high school. I can still remember what it was like to not know my multiplication tables, or what happens if you add 2 and 4 to a temperature in a chemical reaction. But as I learn more I realized it doesn’t take a degree in science to learn the most basic and practical terms and principles of living healthy. Unfortunately, we sometimes interpret nutritional terms we don’t understand or admit that they don’t apply to us.

In simple terms, a raw foods diet is one that is more about the eat as much of nature’s bounty as possible and less of processed foods that aretmloto be consumed. The caveman did not have as much access to processed or chemical/preservative laden food but what he did have was fresh food that still felt great to the taste buds. I’m here to tell you that those days have gone but the simple fact is that my homemade smoothie with fruit is just as healthful and delicious as it was back in my day, if not more healthful.

Macular Degeneration

A new study in women of 75 or older has shown that taking fish oil supplements may help to reduce the risk of both early and late age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the leading cause of vision loss in people over the age of 65.

Researchers studied women who were diagnosed with AMD and who had no prior history of eye problems, and who didn’t smoke, drink or drugs with alcohol at all. The study lasted for five years.

The women were assigned to one of three groups: the “fish oil group,” which took 800 milligrams of omega-3 fish oil supplements every day for five years; the control group which took a placebo every day for the same years; or the Perricone group, which eliminated fish oil supplements during the study but continued to eat a high anti-inflammatory diet.

The researchers reported that the omega-3 group had much better visual function than the other two groups, and the omega-3 group had a significantly higher percentage of tissue loss than the other groups. The Diet of the Caveman

“This is the first study to useately demonstrated a direct association between dietary omega-3 fatty acid levels and AMD risk in a large sample of elderly women,” said Dr.rite A. ref.

Other studies have shown that fish oil may reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), but the results of the current study were different according to Dr. ref. “Our study provides novel information regarding a key molecular mechanism involved in AMD and suggests that longer-term antioxidant supplementation may have an effect in reducing the frequency of AMD. It is postulated that oxidative stress plays a primitive role in the development of the disease.”

The strength of the research lies in the large number of women (at least 60) and men (at least 72) who were studied, as well as the range of ages over which the subjects were studied. How this research can be applied in the prevention of AMD is not yet clear, although Dr. refine added, “Hopefully it will stir-up a lot of interest in the medical community and in the publics interest in nutritional immunity and anti-aging.” The Diet of the Caveman

In the immediate future, the results of this study will be used to help design healthier diets for people of all ages, but because the data reveals a strong link between fish oil use and AMD, the U.S. National Eye Institute is considering making it a major public health campaign. Much more information on the health benefits of fish oil will be available as the research continues.

In addition, exercisers and those who exercise will also be encouraged to supplement their diets with the oil for a number of obvious reasons: It is believed that the build up of fatty acids in the muscles – specifically the omega-3 fatty acids – may have something to do with the decrease in muscular pain that accompanies exercise, and the increased oxygen in the blood that makes the muscles burn more calories, even while you’re sitting down.

So for all those who exercise, or for those who just want to eat healthier, now you know the results of just that little experiment with the mice. Fish oil for the heart and mind may be the new multi-million dollar fitness craze.
